Hometown Heroes Military Banner Program
The Village of Oak Lawn is proud to offer a program to honor current or former residents of Oak Lawn who have served or are currently serving our country in a branch of the military. A banner will be placed on street light poles throughout the Village at the Village’s discretion, and they will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veteran's Day for two years.
Who is Eligible?
Banners are reserved for current or former residents of Oak Lawn only. Individuals must have served in any of the following branches of service:
Fill out the application that is available at Village Hall, or print a copy here. Applicants must provide a photo of the veteran in uniform. Photos submitted should be in reasonably good condition. The photo will be scanned and returned to the applicant.
Cost
The participation fee is $100. This includes the banner production and placement by the Village of Oak Lawn. The banner will include the veteran’s name, picture, and branch of service. Also, a 5x8” commemorative plaque will be donated to the family on the initial order only. Additional plaques are available for $15.00 each.
