Police Cadets

The Oak Lawn Police Cadet Program offers young adults an opportunity to learn basic law enforcement principles. The program is a volunteer program and is open to young adults between the ages of 16 and 20 who have no criminal background.

Cadets are required to attend training sessions three times a month from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Police Station. The training consists of classroom and field exercises as well as physical fitness.

After attending training, cadets are requested to work various village special events such as festivals and parades. They are also given an opportunity to take part in a ride-a-long program where they will ride with police officers on patrol.

Applications for the Police Cadet Program can be picked up at the Oak Lawn Police Front Desk.
