New Oak Lawn Senior Center Grand Opening May 30 9:30 A.M. 5220 West 105th Street
The Village of Oak Lawn would like to publicly announce the grand opening of its new senior center on May 30th at 9:30 A.M. The Village worked in partnership with Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 to secure space at the former McGugan School, located at 5220 West 105th Street, to provide the senior citizens of Oak Lawn with their own wing of the building that includes a multi-purpose room, lounge space, kitchen facilities, and staff offices. We invite all to join with the Village Board, School Board, and Senior Commission for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Dear Oak Lawn Resident:
On April 11th, 2013 the Village of Oak Lawn deactivated the old Emergency/Tornado Warning System and activated the new Emergency/Tornado Warning System. The new system provides better sound coverage and provides warning messages in four languages (English, Spanish, Arabic, and Polish).
Regular monthly testing of the new Warning System will begin. This will occur on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM. During each monthly test, you can expect to hear both the siren test tones and a warning message in four different languages.
The new system will help Oak Lawn be better prepared for tornadoes and other emergency events and is designed to give you and your family the best advance warning possible. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while we completed this transition.

Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Public Hearing on Oak Lawn Water System Upgrade- On March 14th a public hearing was held on the Village of Oak Lawn's plan to upgrade an aging water infrastructure system that today serves over 325,000 residents living in Oak Lawn and 12 surrounding municipal customer communities. The Village intends to fund the lion's share of the $165 million dollar improvements program through low interest loans made available by our important partner agency IEPA in Springfield, Illinois. The project's main source of funding has been made possible through the efforts of our area Congressman led by U.S. Representative Dan Lipinski as well as Governor Quinn and his cabinet; Speaker of the Illinois House Madigan, State Senator Cunningham, State Representative Kelly Burke, and the Mayors and Trustees of the customer communities and their management teams. The final preparation of a 30 plus year Master Contract is nearing completion with an expected date of Summer 2013 followed by phased construction and a commissioning several years later.
My thanks to all the dedicated elected officials and their Professional managers and advisors that have brought this project to its final stage.
Village Manager, Larry R. Deetjen

Oak Lawn Takes Home a Governor’s
Hometown Award!

The Village of Oak Lawn is pleased to announce the commencement of "building demolition" on property assembled at 111th and Cicero pegged for redevelopment in accordance with our community's master plan. The site has not materially changed since the late 1970's and Oak Lawn's robust commercial base and location have long made this location an opportunity for change subject to Village leadership and intervention to assemble the needed acreage. Hamilton Partners has been selected by the Village to lead the redevelopment initiative. For further information please contact Village Manager Larry Deetjen at
