Residents

The Village of Oak Lawn enjoys a unique sense of community and stability, where most residents stay, and second generations return to live. Our neighborhoods are populated with oak tree lined parkways, lots of nearby open spaces, and a large park system.

Our residents feel safe with a Class One fire rescue department, that puts Oak Lawn in the top 5% of the nation and the 12th to be designated in the nation. The Village also has low crime rates and a police force committed to neighborhood policing.

Residents have their choice of private/public schools within and bordering the Village, from preschool to higher education. They benefit from Advocate Christ Medical Center, Children's Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House which are all recipients of the Magnet Award for Excellence in Nursing Services. A convenient METRA station, parking garage, and mixed commercial-residential development are also located within the Village.

The Village hosts many special events and festivals. We have a robust central library centrally located within the Village. Our Park District hosts active recreation play fields, indoor basketball, ice rink, tennis courts, and cutting-edge cultural arts program for all ages.
