Street lighting is an integral part of the Village's infrastructure. Oak Lawn owns and maintains 4,870 street lights within the Village. There are aluminum, steel, and decorative poles. The Village also maintains the street lights located in the many municipal parking lots including the commuter lot and parking tower.

Traffic Signals
There are many busy Intersections in Oak Lawn. The traffic is controlled by an intricate system of signals. These signals are owned by different entities including Oak Lawn, Cook County, and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The maintenance of all of the traffic signals is provided by a state contractor.
To report any Problem with the traffic signals in Oak Lawn, call The Department of Public Works immediately at (708) 499-7756. After regular business hours, please call the non-emergency Police Department at (708) 422-8292.
