Emergency Medical Services

Today, under the direction of the EMS Bureau Chief James Jaeger and Advocate Christ Medical Center, the Oak Lawn Fire Department’s highly trained Firefighter / Paramedics respond to approximately 10,000 emergency calls for service each year, with about 70% of them being for Emergency Medical Incidents.

The EMS Department continuously works towards furthering the knowledge and skills of our Firefighter / Paramedics and serves to train Emergency Medical Technician / Paramedic Students by offering opportunities to enhance their skills through our Ride-Along Program.

The following list is some of the ways the EMS Department keeps our Firefighter / Paramedics highly trained:

  • Active Shooter Education / Training
  • Car Seat Installation Education / Training
  • CPR Training / Renewal
  • Demonstrations
  • EMT / Paramedic Student Ride-Along Program
  • Monthly Continuing Education
  • License Renewals
  • Various Classes
