K9 ThorK-9 Thor
The Oak Lawn Police Department is excited to introduce the newest member of their K9 unit, K9 Officer Thor. Thor is a German Shepard and Belgian Malinois mix. Thor trained with his handler, Officer Carroll, at Landheim Training Center in Indiana. K9 Officer Thor and Officer Carroll are trained in apprehension and drug detection. Welcome K9 Thor!

All dogs are trained as "dual purpose" service dogs. This means that as well as detecting drugs, the dogs can also track both suspected criminals and lost people, search an area or building for hidden suspects, and protect their handler.

The K9 officers also enjoy getting out and meeting the public with their dogs.
