Watermain Project - Southwest Highway at 95th Street
The Village of Oak Lawn Regional Water System is preparing to install a watermain beneath the pavement of Southwest Highway through the 95th Street intersection. This work is expected to be conducted from:
June 5 through September 29
Starting the week of June 5, traffic control devices will be set up along Southwest Highway between the Oak Lawn Community High School and McVicker Avenue to allow a work zone to be established within the northbound lanes. Southwest Highway will be reduced to one through lane in each direction during the duration of the project. A presentation given to the Public Works Committee is included with this letter that provides additional project details.
If your home or business is shown behind the traffic control devices, please note that access to your driveway will remain open except for a short duration when the watermain is being installed in front of it. Additional notification will be provided when construction approaches and a temporary driveway closure is required. In most cases, your driveway should be reopened by the next day.
Please obey all posted signs and turn only right into and out of your driveway while traffic control devices are in place as a safety precaution.
Construction across the 95th Street intersection is expected to start in July. During this time, traffic control devices will remain in place along Southwest Highway, and additional traffic control devices will be in place along 95th Street between Meade Avenue and Menard Avenue. Multiple lane configurations are expected as work progresses across 95th Street.
We appreciate your cooperation during this project. Please contact the Oak Lawn Department of Public Works at 708-499-7756 with any questions or concerns. Additionally, Oak Lawn has hired an engineering firm named CDM Smith to perform oversight during construction. Representatives from CDM Smith will be onsite during the project and can discuss any concerns.
