Lead Water Service Line Notices

The Village of Oak Lawn complies with all Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requirements, including proactive measures to address the issue of lead water service lines. These initiatives include regular testing and monitoring of water quality and communicating these results every year. Per IEPA requirements, the Village of Oak Lawn sent notices to all property owners who potentially have lead service lines, galvanized water service lines, and unknown service lines or pipes.  Most plumbing systems installed before 1986 used lead water service lines and/or brass or bronze faucets and fixtures.

The Village of Oak Lawn is working with the IEPA to develop a program to replace lead pipes on home and business properties with safer alternatives.  More about this program will be shared with residents and businesses in the coming months.
